Dr. Leo Lo
Keynote Speaker
Dr. Leo Lo is the Dean and Professor of the College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences at the University of New Mexico. A recognized leader in AI literacy and workforce development, Dr. Lo focuses on empowering library and higher education professionals through innovative training programs. As President of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), he spearheaded a national task force to develop comprehensive AI competencies. Dr. Lo studied Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oxford and holds a doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, along with an MS in Information Studies from Florida State University.

Redzuan Abdullah
Redzuan Abdullah serves as Senior Librarian in Research and Data Services at SMU Libraries, Singapore Management University, bringing over a decade of experience in academic business librarianship. His role has evolved to provide comprehensive research support, with a consultative focus on faculty and researchers at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. Redzuan specializes in systematic literature reviews, data discovery and sensemaking, support in evidence synthesis, data analytics and bibliometric analysis. His varied interests also see him collaborating with stakeholders in the university entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Business Schools Librarians‘ Group (APBSLG).

Jure Brešar
Jure Brešar completed his Master’s degree in Japanese studies in 2021 at the Department of Asian Studies at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts. He has been employed at the Central Economics Library since 2022, where he has had various responsibilities. He started in the circulation department and is now part of the team for bibliometric analysis, e-resources, and open science, overseeing the ordering of serial publications, consortia, purchasing e-books, and analysing the research work of staff at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business.

Attila Dabis
Attila Dabis is a political scientist and civil-society actor, holding a PhD in international relations, based in Budapest, Hungary. He has served as the Szekler National Council’s Foreign Affairs Commissioner since 2012. Between 2016 – 2022 he was the International Coordinator of the Institute for the Protection of Minority Rights. As of 2022, he started working as an academic writing consultant at the Library of the Corvinus University of Budapest, where he is also a member of the AI Integrational Centre. Additionally, he is the founder and co-editor-in-chief of the academic journal Minority Protection.

Brigitte Doss
Brigitte Doss completed her studies in Biochemistry and holds a PhD. She trained as a librarian and is now a Special Librarian for Biology and Pre-clinical Medicine at the University Library of Regensburg in Germany. Brigitte is responsible for the content-related management and community coordination of the Database Information System (DBIS). DBIS informs users at an institution about their access to scholarly databases and provides detailed information on these resources. She led a project to modernize DBIS, making it available in English since 2024. Over 400 institutions use DBIS, which thrives on its community-driven, cooperative approach — a hallmark of all UR Library services.

Hazel Engelsmann
Hazel Engelsmann holds a Master of Science in Library and Information from the University of Copenhagen. She has many years of experience working with open science during her employment at The Royal Library in Denmark. She teaches Open Access, scientific publishing, and qualitative data analysis software primarily at the PhD and researcher level. Recently, she has been involved in internal competency development within OER and the FAIR-by-Design methodology.”

Juliane Finger
Juliane Finger, PhD, is an open access specialist working at ZBW – Leibniz-Information Centre Economics in Germany. She is product manager of the Open Library Economics (OLEcon), an initiative to support Diamond Open Access journals in economics. She is also the project lead of the BMBF-funded project OLEKonsort.

Michel Fraysse
Michel Fraysse is a jurist and a law and copyright librarian. He holds a Master degree in international law from the University of Toulouse and in European Union law from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Since 2020, he has been director of the Research support Department of the library at Toulouse Capitole University in Toulouse, France. He also teaches copyright law in French and English. He is a regular invited guest instructor on French copyright law in a comparative copyright seminar at Cornell Law School. Michel Fraysse is also a writer. He has published three novels in French and in Occitan.

Corazon M. Gamboa
Corazon M. Gamboa has dedicated over 35 years of service to the University Library of the University of the Philippines Diliman. She currently serves as the Head Librarian of the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business Library. Her journey began with a degree in Accountancy from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, followed by a shift to library science, her Master’s in Library Science from UP Diliman. In 2020, she completed her PhD in Public Administration at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, Marikina City in the Philippines.
Throughout her career, she has combined her passion for learning with expertise in library and information management, helping shape the library services that support students, faculty, and researchers at the University. Her deep commitment to the university community continues to drive her work in supporting academic and scholarly growth.

Grace Garcia
Grace Garcia has been serving as a Professional Librarian at the University Library, University of the Philippines Diliman for 15 years. Currently, she is the Head Librarian of the College of Home Economics Library. She earned her Master in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from the UP School of Library and Information Studies in 2018 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education major in Educational Management. She served as a Board Director of the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. in 2016 and was President of the UP Library Science Alumni Association, Inc. (UP LSAA) from 2022 to 2023. She has presented research papers on disaster management, digital institutional repositories, and research data services at both local and international conferences.

Deborah Grbac
Deborah Grbac has a PhD in public law, she has been a Librarian at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano since 2008. Since 2010 she has been a trainer in Information Literacy Courses for the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, as well as a specialized Reference Librarian. In 2017 she attended a Summer School in text analysis at Padova University, and since she has been working on text analysis, in 2023, she switched her courses into text analysis ones. Since 2018 she has been participating in the United Nations System of Depository Libraries and currently is contributing to its development into the United Nations Charter Libraries knowledge network. She is the author of many papers, articles and book chapters on different topics, lately dealing with Open Science and Text and Data mining. Since 2014 she has been publishing regularly in the “Rivista italiana di informatica e diritto”.

Dave Hansen
David Hansen is the Executive Director of Authors Alliance, a nonprofit that aims to support authors who want to see their works widely distributed for the benefit of the public. Authors Alliance has led efforts to secure copyright exemptions for text data mining researchers and has played an important role in advocating for legal access to research corpora for computational research. Dave has testified before Congress, the U.S. Copyright Office, and the USPTO on copyright, AI, open access, and fair use issues affecting academic authors and universities. He has also advocated for researchers‘ rights under copyright and the First Amendment in numerous federal cases. Before Authors Alliance, Dave was Lead for Copyright & Information Policy and an Associate University Librarian at Duke University. He holds a JD and MSLS from UNC Chapel Hill and previously held academic appointments at UC Berkeley School of Law and UNC Chapel Hill School of Law.

Solveig Sandal Johnsen
Solveig Sandal Johnsen holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and works as an Information Specialist at The Royal Danish Library in Aarhus. She serves as a liaison librarian for the Institute of Law at Aarhus University. In this role, she teaches students and Ph.D. candidates how to search for legal materials, practice good citation methods, and manage references, among other topics.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she coordinates various networks and groups at both local and national levels. For example, she is the main coordinator for the LearningLib.org consortium and network. LearningLib.org is an Open Educational Resource (OER). This consortium and network includes members from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. She also manages networks related to teaching and educational technology (EDU-IT), a national network concerning text screening tools, and participates in an EU project on „Urban Knowledge Hubs.“

Argie Kasprzik
Argie has been coordinating the automation of subject indexing using methods from artificial intelligence at ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics, Germany, since 2018. They have studied computational linguistics, computer science, and cognitive psychology and have obtained their PhD in theoretical computer science in 2012. After an additional qualification in the library domain they have worked in an IT project for the Bavarian State Library and in research and development at TIB Leibniz Centre for Science and Technology. Their interests encompass various approaches from artificial intelligence, notably semantic technologies, machine learning models, and the question how those two branches can be integrated in a useful way for the purposes of knowledge organization.

Emily Kingsland
Emily Kingsland is an associate librarian at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where she serves as the liaison librarian to the Department of Educational & Counselling Psychology and the Department of Psychology. Emily holds a BA and an MLIS from McGill. She has co-authored five systematic and scoping reviews and has published works on information literacy.

Franziska Klatt
Since 2013, Franziska Klatt has led the Teaching Library and Public Relations units at the Economics and Management Library of Technische Universität Berlin. Holding a PhD in Business she collaborates closely with faculty researchers, shaping research-driven services and resources. Her expertise lies in Business Systematic Literature Reviews and AI-powered research assistants, where she develops innovative offerings to support academic excellence.

Ying-Hsang Liu
Dr. Ying-Hsang Liu is a researcher in human-centered data science, information retrieval, and knowledge organization at the Professorship of Predicative Analytics, Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany. With extensive international experience across seven universities, he earned his Ph.D. in Information Science from Rutgers University, USA. Focusing on interactive information retrieval systems, he has explored modern search engines and AI-driven solutions, emphasizing human behavior in information retrieval, supported by grants from the Australian Research Council, Australian Research Data Commons, and Airbus. Dr. Liu’s work includes 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, among which he authored two books. He serves on committees such as ASIS&T and ALISE, holds positions on the iSchool Digital Humanities and DCMI Education committees, and is on the editorial board of several journals, including Information Processing & Management and Online Information Review. Dr. Liu was honored as a Distinguished Member of ASIS&T in 2022.

Jonathan G. Medina
Jonathan G. Medina holds a Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree from Bulacan State University, which he earned in 2009. He is currently engaging in persuasive discourse with his Master of ASEAN Studies program at the University of the Philippines Open University, in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines. He has previously served as an educator in Media and Information Literacy, as well as Information Technology, at the Immaculate Conception School of Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines. He held the position of Head Librarian at the same institution from 2009 to 2019. In 2019, he transitioned to the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he held the position of Librarian I under a contract of services. In the year 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he sought permanent status at the Virata School of Business within the same university and subsequently transitioned to the School of Economics in 2023 as a College Librarian I within the institution.

Kamogelo Mphuthi
Kamogelo Mphuthi obtained her Bachelor of Information Science in 2023 at the University of Pretoria and is currently pursuing her Honours Degree in Information Science at the same institution. She has been serving as an Information Specialist Intern at the Department of Library Services, University of Pretoria since May 2024. This role has provided her with valuable experience in circulation desk duties, user training, research support, and institutional repository management, particularly UPSpace. The rise of artificial intelligence in academic libraries has sparked her interest in how AI reshapes library roles, services, and user needs. Motivated by her exposure in the academic environment, she aspires to pursue a PhD and become a seasoned researcher in the field of Information Science.

Silvete Osmani + (Astrit Ramadani)
With over 15 years of experience at South East European University, I have held key roles including Acquisition Officer, Head of the Library, where I managed library resources, budgets, staff, and strategic development. I led initiatives to improve library services, promote information literacy, and ensure inclusive access to resources, while fostering strong relationships with university leadership, faculty, and external partners. Additionally, I promoted university programs and organized community events, actively contributing to local and academic communities through civil society organizations (CSOs). I hold a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on marketing and social media.Have participated in numerous international workshops and conferences on library management, leadership, and open science. I also led various projects.

Abdulhalik Pinar
Abdulhalik Pinar is Lecturer at Harran University in Turkey and specializes in information management, and digital transformation. He holds a PhD from Harran University’s Social Sciences Institute and an MA from the University of Sheffield’s Information School. His research focuses on digital inequality and AI in GLAM. Currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of Sheffield, Dr. Pinar has contributed to national research projects on digital education, social integration and AI applications in the GLAM sector.

Julia Priess-Buchheit
Prof Dr Julia Priess-Buchheit is an expert in teaching and learning of open science, ethics and integrity, as well as in social technologies.
Currently, she conducts her research at Kiel University and accompanies the European Open Science Movement at Miller International Knowledge. Before this transition, she was a professor of Education and Didactics at the University of Applied Sciences Coburg, where she implemented an interdisciplinary study program for all faculties. In 2020, she became the Dean of Studies at the Academic Centre for Sciences and Humanities and founded the (German-speaking) Teaching and Learning Scientific Practice network.
Since 2018, she has chaired the board of the Zentrum für Konstruktive Wissenschaft e.V. (ZKE), an interdisciplinary research group with a fifty-year tradition. She is one of the few coordinators of a Horizon2020 project (€ 2 million) associated with a university of applied sciences in Germany (and Europe).
In 2015, University Kiel awarded her the Innovative and Trendsetting Teaching prize; in 2019, she won the Genius Loci-Preis, together with the Coburger Weg team. Her latest digital learning settings for students and pupils are open source and won both the #WeForSchool Hackathon (Germany) and the #EUvsVirus Hackathon in 2020.

W. Benedikt Schmal
Benedikt Schmal is an economist of science and competition. He holds a PhD from the Duesseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany. He studied economics in Dublin and Berlin, research stays led him to George Mason University, KU Leuven, the University of Reading, and the Weizenbaum Institute in Berlin. He serves on the scientific advisory board of Econstor. Benedikt has published various papers on the functioning of the academic publishing market in prestigious journals, where he focuses on the competition dimension.

Corey Seeman
Corey Seeman has served as director of Kresge Library Services (Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) since 2006. While Kresge Library Services primarily supports the Ross School, its 22 person team helps people across the University of Michigan with business-related research. Prior to that position, Corey served as Assistant Dean over collections and systems at the University of Toledo, a training consultant at Innovative Interfaces, and a librarian and archivist at historical libraries, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Corey has written and presented on customer service and change management within libraries, especially academic ones. Corey maintains the Library Writer’s Blog (https://librarywriting.blogspot.com/) where he shares writing and presenting opportunities for librarians. Maria Maura Tinao
Assistant Professor Maria Maura Tinao has been with the University of the Philippines since 1993. She is a full -time faculty at the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) at the University of the Philippines Diliman. A certified IBM Data Science and Data Analyst Professional, her expertise lies in data science, machine learning, predictive analytics, and data analysis. Her research spans breast cancer detection, sarcopenia risk prediction, and AI adoption among the aging population, demonstrating her commitment to projects that bridge technology and meaningful societal impact.

Lukas Tschopp
Lukas Tschopp is a liaison librarian with an interdisciplinary background. He comes from a healthcare background and brings his expertise to librarianship. He is passionate about knowledge transfer, both in teaching and in individual consultations. Currently working at the University Library of Zurich, he completed a professional development stay at the Singapore Management University in 2024, where he focused on the intersection of information literacy, teaching and technology. He has developed workshops on AI literacy and is committed to promoting the responsible and effective use of AI in higher education.

Tomaž Ulčakar
Tomaž Ulčakar, a librarian by profession, started his career at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business in 2000 at the Central Economics Library, where he handled a range of professional tasks, from circulation services to managing bibliographies at the Information and Documentation Centre for Economics and Business Sciences. Between 2010 and 2016, he worked in Publishing, overseeing the school’s publishing process for study materials, scientific and professional publications, and Slovenia’s leading academic journal in economics and business, Economic and Business Review. From 2016 to 2022, he led the Central Economics Library and the Publishing Office. Since 2022, he has been heading the Research Unit. He is an active member of the University Senate Commission for the Development of the Library System (chairman 2019–2021). In 2023, he was awarded the Čop Award for his significant contribution to the library profession. He is also actively involved in the Ljubljana Librarians’ Association and is a member of LIBER.

Berthilde Uwamwezi
Dr. Berthilde Uwamwezi is an experienced professional librarian with a PhD in Library and Information Science obtained from the University of Boras, Sweden in 2020. She also holds Masters’ and Bachelor’s degrees in Library science, information technology option from Cheick Anta Diop University, Senegal. Berthilde works at the University of Rwanda as an academic and digital library services specialist. As a lecturer, researcher and library service specialist, Berthilde excels in combining academic excellence with practical contributions to policy development for library services and teaching. Her research spans on teaching, supervision, impactful research in information science and strategic development of library and information services. As a mentor and supervisor for students, she is committed to advancing knowledge and enhancing learning and research environments.

Charlotte Wien
Dr. Charlotte Wien is a full professor of Scholarly Communication at SDU in Denmark and UiT The Arctic University of Norway and former Vice President of European Library Relations at Elsevier. Throughout her career, she has navigated the scholarly communication landscape from multiple perspectives—that of librarians, researchers, and now publishers—giving her a unique and holistic understanding of the evolving research ecosystem.
Dr. Wien holds two master’s degrees, one in Humanities and the other in Library Science, along with a Ph.D. in Information Retrieval. As both a scholar and a practitioner, she has developed curricula for librarians, contributed to the discourse on responsible research metrics, and actively shaped discussions around open science, bibliometrics, and researcher integrity. Her work is deeply rooted in the intersection of library services, scholarly publishing, and research policy.
Dr. Wien frequently engages with mass media to discuss developments in scholarly communication. With her extensive experience bridging libraries, academia, and publishing, she focusses on shaping the the future of scholarly communication in Europe and beyond.

Lorna Wildgaard
Lorna Wildgaard is a consultant at Research Support, Copenhagen University Library, part of The Royal Library, Denmark. She has a PhD in bibliometrics and before working at the Library, was a researcher at Copenhagen University. She is actively involved in developing skills and recognition for Open Science activities, most recently through her involvement in Skills4EOSC. Her work in the Research Support unit concerns primarily education and skill development, including review methodologies and the role of AI-tools, predatory journals, and the development and uptake of open educational resources.

Agnieszka Wolanska
Agnieszka Wolańska serves as a Campus Librarian at Coventry University Wrocław, the first foreign university branch in Poland. She holds a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Wrocław, a postgraduate degree in Team Leadership, and an Advance Higher Education Associate Fellowship (AFHE), recognizing her expertise in teaching and learning support in higher education.
From 2018 to 2024, she was a member of the editorial team of the EBIB Association, and since autumn 2024, she has been a board member of theAssociation of Academic Libraries (SBSW) in Poland.
Agnieszka is also the author of publications on modern library services, user experience (UX), and library practices.

Gabi Wuethrich
Gabi Wuethrich is the Liaison Librarian for Economics at the University of Zurich, bringing her background in economic history to her role. Currently completing her PhD in economic history, she is deeply committed to preserving knowledge and ensuring its validity and quality in the digital age. With a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Data Management and Information Technology, she focuses on making digital data lasting and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Her interests extend to exploring how AI can support academic libraries and other GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) institutions in achieving their goals and enhancing their operational efficiency – e.g. by using it to sketch this text.
